Which is the best configuration (common gate or common source) to use while designing a single port negative resistance oscillator?

Using common source you get better Loaded-Q of the resonator, than using common gate. So, better phase noise.

common source is better compared to common gate. common source is analogous to common emitter configuration whose voltage and current gain is greater than or equal to unity which is most widely used in amplifier design
