Given a tranfer function of a discrete system in terms of Z,how to comment on the stability of the system?

Re: system stabilty

neils_arm_strong,
Calculate the values of the poles (roots of the denominator). If they are all inside the unit circle, the system is stable. The closer the poles are to the unit circle, the more oscillitory the response will be.

Re: system stabilty

if you don't know the ROC, it is generally impossible to say about stability. a transfer function may correspond to some stable and/or unstable functions.

system stabilty

Given the the Region of Convergence (RoC) covers the unit circle, then the function is stable.

The pictures towards the bottom are quite helpful.
