HI ALL

is there any idea about digital filters

i have to finish a project over speech recognition but there is a lot of issues

mainly -- i have a 8 bit ADC atmega16
i m receiving digital output continuously in my buffer so
to recognize the frequency of the input data how should i programme a filter?
what is the concept of digital filter how it works ?
i have pre recorded words how should i compare it with the continuous speech ?
is 8 bit resolution is sufficient ?
what is the crystal frequency ?

please provide solution with easy concepts of programme

thanks in advance

i have seen it but i m confusing that how their formulas are working
for as i have continuous speech 8 bit data in my buffer so how can i recognize frequency of speech
that whether is it 400hz or 2000hz because it is continuous data it may be eight ones 11111111 or eight 00000000 i m confusing
i want concept of digital filters.
