This is a unexpensive tool which allows woodworking. The frame was made of 80x80x4mm and 60x60x5mm profiles. Those profiles provided the desired rigidity of the device. To minimize the possible deformation after the welding process, the base surfaces were milled.
There are 20mm shafts supported along the entire length in the X and Y axes and in Z axis 25mm unsupported shafts.
Drive consists of TR12x4 screws and two nuts made of bronze to ensure minimum plays of the drive.
Engines presented in the picture were removed from an old device. They have 200 steps per rotation and operate at 1,2A at 1/16 step. Due to the fact that the engines and screws are an interim solution, pieces of hydraulic hose double reinforced with a steel braid were used as the coupling.
Electro-spindle: jPERKE 1.1kW controlled by inverter.
Worktop was made of textolite plate, unfortunately, its dimensions are slightly smaller than feasible.
Video of operation:
6mm mill three transitions in 22mm pine wood
speed: 0,8m/min
The milling machine operates with a home made driver based on well known systems TB6560AHQ and optoisolation based on fast optocouplers in step direction lines of H11L1 type and simple pc807 on the other lines. Bridges of control systems of the engines are powered by +30V, while the remaining parts of the device operate at +5V.
