It is a home made headphone amplifier on HEX-FET transistors. You can start with making a board of the amplifier to check how it plays and if everything operates properly. The sound is really clear and has a high power. Next, build a power supply, indicator of drive and a small board for it. Housing is a processed housing of an old TV Tuner – cover and bottom plate for mounting were used. Back was cut with a grinder and aluminum sheet with chinch sockets was mounted. The aluminum sheet was equipped with a hole for power cable and ventilation holes.
Front panel consists of five pieces of ABS glued together.
Elements of the front panel:
- two black aluminum knobs from volume potentiometers
- a switch
- jack socket for headphones
- double indicator of drive
- three blue diodes
The amplifier is powered from a 20W 17V transformer, then a double stabilized 15V power supply. It consumes approximately 200mA and gives about 200mW at the output, so it is adapted to 32ohm headphones. Six HEX-FET IRF540 transistors were used for this power supply.
