A flash is extremely needed when you want to take a macro photo. Professional flashes are very expensive, so the device described here is a good solution for everyone, who wants to save money.
Most of the components are so called 'electronic scrap'.

An old flash was crushed, so it needed some repairs. The trigger was processed, the tension on the foot was reduced to 3V by Optotriac (tension save in digital cameras is about 5V).
A headphone jack and a switch to adjust the flash output were mounted in the place of original burner. In '1' position there is a full flash and in '0' position – there is ½ flash power.

The housing of the burners is an old housing from a broken twilight switch.

Burners are from old disposable cameras, just like the condensers and ignition transformers.
A cable connecting the burners to the flash is a phone cable which originally linked the receiver with the telephone.
Original ignition transformer was removed from the flash plate. The cables were connected to the socket which links the flash with the burners.
ATTENTION! The ignition transformers have to be mounted close to the burners, otherwise, the trigger pulse is lost on the way in the cable.
The burners' housings are mounted to the ring by plexiglass pieces. The ring is an adapter to the filters of Cokin system (in this case it's 55mm, because macro lens has that screw).
