My aim is to develop a charger of a Li ion Battery of the following specification
voltage 25.9V
capacity 5.5Ah
I have an idea of charging the li ion battery using an alternator of 24V i have researched that a 24V alternator gives 28.4 V output.. I think this voltage is sufficient to charge my 25.9 V battery..
I want to rotate the alternator with a bicycle.. Will this idea of charging will work? what addition should i have to do?

Will this idea of charging will work?
Not without modifications.
You mustn't charge a Li Ion battery by simply connecting it to a voltage source of the same magnitude.
It's not the way you charge a Li Ion battery.

I have asked one electrician who worked on alternator he said that there is a built in ic and electronic circuit which can automatically detect the li ion battery connected to it and charge according to its specifications.. Is it so?

Built in to what?
There're many IC's from different manufacturers that are intended for that purpose.

What are you trying to do?
Are you trying to design a charger?

Are you sure you can spin the alternator fast enough? Are your legs strong enough? This alternator, how do you know its inbuilt charger IC is suitable for your battery?

I talked to an electrician who works with alternator he told me that 300 rpm is enough.. He said we can easily achive it by applying the suitable gear ratio..
As in normal cycle i removed the tire.. And fixed a pully of about 7 inch diameter on the axle.. I will drive a small pully which will be attached to the alternator rotor... Thus i can have a greator rpm of alternator even if i paddle at a normal rate.. Therotically i think it is possible.. Practically... I will get to know
