Hi,

First of all don't know where to post it,

I need to know how exactly the fuel guage in car is working. Whether voltage or current will be available at the dash board for the measurement? I'm planning to measure it (from the dash board) and connect to microcontroller.

It kind of depends on what car is under consideration.Every manufacturer will use their own system for measuring fuel level in the tank(s).The connection from the sensor to the system, which will calibrate the value to be seen by the driver, will be the part of a bus which will feed information to the driver on the dashboard.
Anyway, for your reference, here is a diagram showing the connections.**broken link removed**
