Check the license path is set properly in the Cadence License Manager..
Check the license Path is set proeprly in the License File with the Port Number and system Name
Check the server is running porperly in the system tasks.......
If still exests kindly post the error message

I'm having the same problem. CDS_LIC_FILE and all other environment variables are properly set. I was using version 16.0 and was working ok. I can run layout without any problems. It seems to be only for OrCAD Capture and Capture CIS. Also, I can see the Capture.exe consuming 25% of the CPU usage in the task manager but it stays in the splash screen. I think is time to request some Cadence support.

Make sure your version is 16.3-S017. You can probably start Orcad by clicking on the capture.exe in the bin directory. Then click Help->About in Orcad. I had similar problem that went away after installing the Hotfix posted at the Cadence support web site:
<I cant post the link No permission>
Login go to Downloads - Orcad_16_3 - ISR
you'll find a zip file as the last in the list. Download the 565K zip and install.

I installed Orcad Capture 16.3 on Windows 7. When I try to start Capture, I am getting a "The program can't start because MSVCR90.DLL is missing from your computer" message.
Please help! Thanks.

check your environmental variables in mycomputer --> properties--> advanced ( right click on my computer icon in the desktop) and check whether variable 'CDSROOT" is available with cadence path in the value field.

I checked - the CDSROOT was there. I then moved the Capture-related paths to the top of the PATH variable and that seemed to fix the problem.

Thanks for your help, Nikhilraj.

yes Montelias it works for me also , buy why cadence dosnt allows other pats to be in the front?
