capacitor challenge

dear experts
I work with some infrustructure that have its own power supply. The power supply runs in to some problem and i need to repair it.the problem is here that in the ooutput of power supply there are two boards that are full of capacitors. Some capacitors fired and needs to be replaced.but unfortunatly that kind of capacitor is not available here and i have to replace it with another one.The question is here:
Why do we should situate such a huge amount of capacitor here?
and the other on is that can we replace it with equivalant capacitor
an other point that we should care is that capacitors divided in to groups and in each group capacitors are in parallel

THANKS IN ADVANCE

Re: capacitor challenge

1) to make the effective esr of the effective cap less or to alter the self resonant frequency of the effective cap.
2) Many caps in parallel may be better in terms of the net layout.

The above 2 points are not the only reasons and it mainly depends on the circuit you are using them in.

Re: capacitor challenge

Dear Sir,

Could we be more specific about number, value, and type of those two capacitors.
