Capacitive power supply

In a particular design with power requirement of .5W, whether it is advisable to use capacitive power supply or SMPS based considering performance and cost.

Please suggest
 

Hi,
You did not mention the required voltage. anyways, if are concerned on cost then definitely capacitive and if concerned on performance then no question for SMPS.
