how to start the gui in magma

I even cannot start the mantle. It always gives me the "Segmentation fault".

Here is my some basic infos:
. Blast version is 4.1.18
. OS platform: Sun Java Desktop System 1
$uname -a
Linux linux 2.4.19-4GB #1 Tue Nov 11 15:41:38 UTC 2003 i686

$export PATH=<installed-dir>/blast4.1/common/bin:$PATH
$export LM_LICENSE_FILE=<installed-dir>/blast4.1/common/license.dat

$java -version
Java Version "1.4.2_02"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_02-b03)
Java HOTsPOT(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_02-b03, mixed mode)

Is Sun Java Desktop System 1 good for Blast4.1 ?
Any idea ?

Thanks a lot

magma segmentation fault

I use sun JDS 1(not release 2). Magma 4.0/4.1 works well under gui.

At magma path you can find a path of jave , you can upgrade the jave use the news jave. Try it.

Hi, how did you come to it ? I also tried that on JDS1(not release2) but still got the "segmentation falt" wizard. Are there any secret key steps that I had lost ? Will you please check them out for me as I had listed out right above ?

Thanks a lot.

Hi, did you mean if I upgrade this JAVA/JRE to a newer one then this problem will be gone ?

i also had the same problems.i was using fedora core 2.i had to switch to rh 8.0.only redhat 8.0 7.2,7.3 are supported platforms.the segmentation fault is due to some libraries missing (ed:lib2c.so etc).so better use rh 8.0 or some other compatible os.

if u are a linux expert u should install the compatible version of glibc and also java patches ,which are available from magma's website.

Hi all,
I had solved my problem. In Magma web site, I found I must start name server cache daemon in RHEL 3.0. Now the gui works.
