InnoCentive are currently running a challenge to find better methods for detecting water leaks. In the US alone 2.6 trillion gallons of water is lost every year from leaking pipes, making the potential benefits from solving this problem massive. The challenge only requires a theoretical proposal at this stage and the winning entry gets $20,000.

In our experience, fields outside of those traditionally associated with a particular problem can produce really innovative and disruptive solutions, could electromagnetic subsurface imaging be the answer?
