MAC Address of LAN Card

Hi

Is it possible to change the Physical Address (MAC Address) of LAN card to whatever I like? If yes, then will the licence file for any other MAC Address will also work on my PC? Also, if this is possible, please let me know how to do it for both WidowsXP and Linux (RedHat 9.0).

Regards
Faisal

You can change the MAC address in the network properties in the NT OS.

MAC Address of LAN Card

from your console write: (root)

ifconfig eth0 down
ifconfig eth0 hw ether 01:02:03:04:05:06
ifconfig eth0 up

this will change your mac until next reboot. To change it permanently, you can add theese lines in your rc. files, or to write it in e2prom mounted on your NIC. There are some tools to do that.

Changing MAC is not pirating!

If you like your (pirated) tools, pls buy it, support the authorst to be able to make more best tools!

Re: MAC Address of LAN Card

and for windows based system do you now any similar procedure?
Thanks

Re: MAC Address of LAN Card

I guess if ur windows running version is gosted from another PC , then it will take the other PC's MAC address and the PC would deal with this MAC address as if it's the original one (unless ur a member in a LAN) ..

MAC Address of LAN Card

when using Win 9x/ME (not all drivers supports changing MAC)

1. your Network adapter properties
2. Advanced
3. Hardware address or network address
This field can be empty or default MAC. Change it and reboot...

when using Win 2000/XP (not all drivers supports changing MAC)

1. Device manager
2. Properties on network adapter
3. Advanced tab
4. Network address...
