CAN with PIC18F458 ?

does anybody have working example on C ?

and another question - if the data I want to transceive is bigger than 8k, should I split it myself or the CAN controller will do it for me if I send it to him ?

Check Microchip application notes:

8kBytes? Standard defines max 8 data bytes in data message.
You have to split your data.

Excuse-me, if this sounds stupid. But I have one question.
What connectors are used for CAN bus and what is the pinout ?
I downloaded several docs about CAN, but there is no mention about physical layer and about connectors which are normally used for CAN bus.

Connectors and physical layer are custom :). Depends were are you
going to connect.

Typical transceivers are Philips TJA1050(newer) and PC82C250(older).

Very useful informations.
Thanks

transceiver I use is MCP2551 ( product of microchip )

thanx for the information
