PDIUSBD12

Have anyone used this chip before for USB interfacing? For initilization, it must be done in a controller? Can this chip function well without using a microcontroller?

Re: PDIUSBD12

certainly, I have browsed thru all the links... but there's no answer for my question. Also, does anyone know where to get the PDIUSBD12 chip in Malaysia. I have contacted the distributors here but they deals in large quantities order only.

Re: PDIUSBD12

This chip can not be used without some form of cpu. The usb device stack needs to be implemented in sw to get it to work.

Download the information you can find abot the chip from philips, there you can se what needs to be implemented.

Re: PDIUSBD12

I know about the FTDI chip as well. But due to the package problem, I can't implement it into my project.

I would like to know about the firmware of PDIUSBD12. Actually, where to load the codes? in the microcontroller? How about the driver mentioned on Philips website?

Thankz a lot

Yes firmware goes in the microcontrolle,r, aslm already wrote that, why do you ask again?.

If it is due to package problem you could try chips similar to FTDI, but in other package types from other vendors.
The Prolific PL-2303 and the Cygnal CP2101 are similar to FTDI232, but in other packages. Cygnal CP2101 even has built-in EERPOM.
