Can i interface LPC1768 with MCP 2551 for CAN communication

Hi,

Can i interface LPC 1768 with MCP 2551
For CAN communication.

There are two other can driver IC which is TJA1040 and MAX3051 which works on 3.3V but i could not get it in our area(chennai).

So the MCP 2551 which has absolute maximum voltage is 7V.

I think it will work on 5V but i want to know, will it work on 3.3V
 

The MCP2551 requires:

4.5V ≤ VDD ≤ 5.5V

Therefore you will need to supply the device 5V operating voltage. However, the MCP2551 does feature internal pullup resistors and accept a High-level input voltage logic level of 2.0V to Vdd and a Low-level input voltage logic level of Vss to 0.8V, therefore you should be able to interface it to the LPC1768 as long as the MCP2551 is supply the proper 5V for operation.
