Cadence SOC Encounter : Kubuntu Dapper Drake

I had the following when trying to install Encounter 5.2 in my laptop

Do you want to use InstallScape [y/n]:n
SoftLoad will be used to Install Software

Setting up softload for lnx86 in /DATA/cadence

The following tar errors were detected:
/bin/tar: ./install/bin.lnx86/columnize: Cannot utime: Operation not permitted
/bin/tar: ./install/bin.lnx86/io_fltr.c: Cannot utime: Operation not permitted

i think i need an older version of something but i reall cannot remember what.

Can anybody help me?

PS : tried already changing permissions to 777 and assume kernel 2.4.1

I am Sorry I Can not offer any help but was curious to know about CADENCE SOC encounter .
SOC = system on chip? I m using M.S in system on chip and using CADENCE in ma project! I have it installed on RED HAT.
Please giv me some online links for learning CADENCE and tel me about SOC.
