buffer circuit before rlc

what is the purpose buffer circuit(op-amp).and do we use same buffer circuit for low pass RC circuit or this is only for RLC circuit.thank you in advance

Hi,

The buffer is there to ensure a clean and reliable signal.
The rlc forms a complex load to the source, this my distort the input signal. The buffer avoids this.

It is the main purpose of the buffer to present a low-resistive (ideally zero) source resistance to the RLC filter circuit.
Each finite source output resistance will alter the frequency response of the filter. The same would apply to any load that is placed at the output of the filter. here, also a buffer which provides a high input resistance could be useful. I think, neither the signal cleanliness nor any signal distortions are affected by the buffer.
 

The voltage follower offers a high input impedance, due to which source loading can be avoided.
Also, as frequency changes, the impedance of the RLC network will change, due to which maximum power may not be transferred to the network as there is an impedance mismatch. So, the op amp will offer a low output impedance which will drive the network ensuring proper power being delivered and avoiding source loading.
