Bootup Process Description

hi friends,

Im new to linux and want to know abt the internals of Linux.

I have start up with the linux and want to know abt the bootup process in linux.

i need a good document which provides wit the basics of linux bootup. i mean i need wit the bootup and MINGETTY procedure and LOGIN and PASSWORD procedures.

wht exactly happens when there procedures are initialised.

kindly help me.

Hi kk_ram2001,

Bootup and login are different procedures.

The Bootloader is an hardware specific program to start the OS.
For Intel CPUs its one of: lilo, grub, syslinux etc.

The login procedure differs wether You login locally or remotely
and on the program You use.
