I have a satellite receiver that I was going to modify
by installing a bigger flash memory. The original tsop
is "boot from the top" The chip I have on hand is a
"boot from the bottom".
Would it be possible to convert the original firmware
to boot from the bottom, or is it a waste of time?
It would be an interesting project if possible.
The receiver uses nucleus plus os/20 for the rtos.

The terms top boot block and bottom boot block are for the memory not for the CPU it usually always boots from the top last two adresses, but you may be upset about the sector organisation of the two memories if it is asymetrical -because the CPU may have problems wrighting to flash.

This particular receiver can accept a larger tsop with different firmware,
but I forgot that the newer firmware uses the 1st 64k of tsop space
to save the favorites lists and other user related preferences.
The boot sector is normally the last 64k of tsop space.
I will have to give it some more thought.
