lvds to usb converter

Hi,

I have just started working on a project that is a Bus Low Voltage Differential signaling (BLVDS) to Universal serial bus (USB) converter. Currently I'm at a beginner level and wanted some advice if this particular conversion is feasible as BLVDS works almost at 800Mbps whereas USB works at 2Mbps.

Does anyone know how exactly these 2 buses can be interfaced? I've been looking for a similar kind of converter but didnot get anything specific. It would be nice if i could get some help on the same if someone has worked on something similar.

Thanks,
Shilpi

You got to check USB 1.1/2.0 electrical specification and also MAC specification.
It should be 12Mbps for 1.1 and higher at about 50 to 480Mbps for 2.0.

You should take note of the clock recovery circuit for USB.
You should also find out if you are only doing a USB host or device.
USB host and device are very different when you implement the MAC.

LVDS drives current whereas USB drives voltage level.
Such interface requires some kind of I-V conversion.

LVDS practically do not require a clock as the the bps is very much determined by line driver switching speed. You can tune your LVDS driver so that is backward compatible to USB.

To compromise the baud difference between USB and LVDS, FIFO is needed.

Hi,

Can anyone help me out to figure out if the B-LVDS is full duplex or full duplex?

Thanks,
Shilpi
