Hi everybody,

probably some of you have already resolved this problem...

...i'm generating the Bill of Material from Altium designer and i have a problem with grouping components; in particular i have a row with (example) C1, C2, C3 with the same footprint and different values. for example C1= 1k, C2=470, C3= 560...

when Altium generates the BOM, I see in the column "designator" "C1,C2,C3" and in the column "value" "470, 560, 1k" .... the values does not correspond to their designator beacause Altium sort them..

How can i fix this? Thanks guys!

Strange.
I never saw this kind of behaviour, even on other CADs.

you need to adjust the grouped columns. maybe you can add manufacturing part number. it will be on the top left of the bill of materials output.
simply drag the desired column into the grouped column box.

hope it makes sense.

simply drag the desired column into the grouped column box.

..drag doesn't work... I'm trying to group by "designator" (it could be definitely the solution) but i can't... and the program remember the last grouping. o_O

really strange...

Have you read through the "TU104 Generating a custom bill of materials.pdf" ? Maybe my instructions were not clearly written.

That won't work.
What group by does is check each value (not the component value!) of the grouped column and for each unique value a group is created. As each designator is unique it will create a group for each component instance and you will have a list with 1 component per row.

What you want is group by LibRef and Value.
This will create a group for each library symbol used. And for each library symbol it will create groups for each unique value.

I have attached an example.

When you press OK in the BOM window and save the project i think the group settings are saved.

I had the same problem and I found the solution. I post this just in case anyone has the same problem.

BOM is classified by comments, not by value. The easy way to do it is to select all your components, and change the the comment of all of them (or just your passive components, as you need) simultaneously using SCH Inspector to "=Value".

Hi everybody,

I had this problem and was able to solve it. As loosemoose pointed out it it wise to read through "TU104 Generating a custom bill of materials.pdf" but if you don't have the time here is what you need to do:

In the "All Columns" section click and drag the "Designator" to the "Grouped Columns" section. When you do that each Designator will be in one row.
