Would you agree, the attached (LTspice and jpeg) is the best way to get hysteresis with an LM111 comparator?
(Hysteresis needed to avoid noise problems, and "chattering".)
...ie, just tie Balance and strobe pins together, and have a positive feedback resistor, as shown?.
(LT1011 is pin for pin compatible with LM111).
Thanks, the 5V is the output of an opamp buffer.
The LT1011 datasheet says floating BAL and Strobe can cause noise.....that they should be either shorted together, or connected with a 100n cap.
I wonder if this applies to the LM111?
I don't undersrand why two different types of comparators are in this discussion.
If you use LT1011 then refer to LT1101 datasheet.
If you use LM111 then refer to LM111 datasheet.
To further increase the confusion, in the schematic it shows "use LM311".
