AVR ATmega644,32 88,8,128 etc Burner software

I was firstly using avrdude but it is not responding.
now after reading this blog have installed extreme burner but extreme burner showing error "power on failed & cannot connect to the target chip".
I am using ATMEGA16 development board which is usb powered.
so what is the problem please tell me
 



You will need USBasp programmer which is compatible with eXtreme burner ,go through this www.fischl.de/usbasp/ .

tried it also but all waste.
it is also not working , while I wasx trying with extreme buner i got the following messages
1.auto detecting programmer
2.found USBasp on usb port
3.powering on
4.power on failed
5.can not communicating with target chip
6.retrying again
& so on repeted 4,5,6
 


Actually USBasp firmware design for ATmega8 and ATmega88 but you are applying on ATmega16 in the development board, this not compatible with ATmega16.

May be your AVR is damaged.

He is not trying to program the m16 with the usbasb firmware , he is just trying to communicate with it using the mentioned programmers
 

Can you post your Atmega16 development board schematic?

He said in post#41 is that "I am using ATMEGA16 development board which is usb powered"

This communication would be failed due to non-matched firmware.
 

Dear alexan_e,

Please let me know that the ATmega8 ISP programmer you given from link electronics.diy.com ,is not working still, please tell me any other AVR programmer that is in working condition.

For this programmer, the ponyprog cannot detect it
 

noww if any 1 can tell me how can I connect my board using FRC connector directly. I think my Usbasp is not supporting atmega 16 & want to connect board directly with my pc:?:
 


I'm not sure it is supposed to be detected, the programmer circuit is just a few resistors that transfer the serial port signal;t to the mcu m there is no logic in the programmer to reply back
 




That programmer mentioned in Post #9 works fine, I used several times. Check your PC OS and PC Ports.

I am using Laptop,it has only one serial port and I did loopback test of serial port it was working fine but AVR programmer on post #9 not works.

I`ll try it again.
 

Skip loopback testing, connect some real RS232 device on port and try to use it.

Programmer works 100% guranteed.

What OS you use ?

In PonyProg software you need to set

Serial, SI Prog I/O, COM1
