I wish to build an adjustable DC power supply to supply the field winding of a DC motor. The DC power supplies available in my lab are not suitable because they either have limited voltage or current supply. My aim is to build a DC power supply that is able to supply 2A at 210VDC. The current supplied by the DC power supply must be as constant as possible (e.g. no ripples). What options that I have?

Thanks.

the various options I can think are
1) DC chopper
2) Dual COnverter
3) take the help of AC and use rectifier
4) PWM inverter

Just search basic text books of machines, drives and you will find n number of options,
