Hi,

I'm working on the design of a "discrete" AGC loop for a GPS receiver (>60dB gain required...). Does someone have a good tutorial for this kind of design?

thanx

Hi,

a common architecture uses a 2 bit (sign/magnitude) quantizer. The AGC gain is set to obtain a 30% duty cycle of the averaged mag output.

Remember, the GPS signal is below the thermal noise. The AGC loop thus regulates on noise generated in the frontend.

Best,
