hello all

can anyone explain why the maximum allowed uncertainty in sampled voltage is only 0.5*LSB and not 1*LSB???? an illustration might be usefull

Pick any voltage. If there are no accuracy errors, the resolution determines the closest most accurate reading within 1/2 bit

It is the same as converting any real number, X to an integer
e.g. X- (INT(X+0.5) <0.5 ( for any number X>0 )

Thanks. .. but I am confused on why the error has been chosen to be half LSB and not 1LSB.. are you assuming a a mid-tread or mid-rise transfer function of the ADC...
Kindly elaborate...
