(Just realized this was in a forum location that doesn't allow responses! (business/promotions).

EDIT: please ignore - I was wrong, it does allow resposes!
Mods, if you can delete this, or delete the other one, I'd be grateful. Thanks!

Hi,

Has anyone ordered from Olimex (Bulgaria) direct to the UK with their lowest cost shipping offering (airmail)?
Did it arrive within a month, or did it take longer.
I received a proforma invoice by e-mail, but no notice of shipment, so I've been forced to
query them : (
Do they normally send a notice of shipment? I'm wondering if they've made a mistake,
but if they have, they are being silent about it.
They say it was sent four weeks ago. Unfortunately it is hard to know if the
problem may be the postal service at their end, or Royal Mail. To be honest
I've never had a problem with Royal Mail, and regularly get shipments from China for example,
no problem at all.
I inquired with Olimex about which postal firm was used, but
they assumed I was blaming Olimex : (
If they normally send a notice of shipment, then I'll query with them again.
Thanks in advance.

Too many moderators round here - I deleted the other post, Bigdog deleted this one so I have restored this one!

I did see the original post and I guess the reason for no replies is probably that no one else has used them. I have never even heard of them.

I have had packages go missing but usually from the UK to other countries, not to the UK.

Yes it was a bit confusing.

As I have already communicated to sky_123, I have purchased several Olimex boards, however none directly, usually through Mouser.

Although, I have heard several complaints concerning Olimex's shipping practices from individuals who purchased Olimex boards direct from Olimex via eBay.

Delivery times were exceedingly long accompanied by absolutely no guarantee of successful delivery. I also seem to remember eBay temporarily suspended their eBay account due to these complaints.

On the other hand, Mouser delivers the boards at essentially the same total cost including shipping fees in two days, along with guarantee of delivery.

I just had a look on ebay here and Olimex stuff seems to be sold by a UK user called Olimexery with 100% feedback so I guess that isn't Olimex themselves (and maybe a safer way to buy Olimex stuff in the UK).

Perhaps when eBay suspended their account, they had to make other arrangements.

By chance while search for Arduino info, I came across this post on the Arduino Forum dated February 29, 2012, 06:04:53 AM:

I don't know the relationship between the "Pinguino" folks and Olimex, but I purchased a "Pinguino" that I believe was supposed to come from Olimex and it never arrived. When I complained that it never arrived, I was told they were going to send another. It never arrived.

I'd buy parts elsewhere -- I was not offered a refund, or a tracking number, or anything else.

The following reply:

You can buy Olimexino also on Mouser or Farnell online shops, that is better if You want to buy also other electronic components.
