Dear friends,
I should choose a topic between many aspects of Photonic Band Gap field toward fulfillment of my thesis. Please guide me if any one has any experience in this field to make a practical, up-to-date topic which could be done in about 6 months and recognized as a M.Sc. thesis.
Best wishes,

Of great interest is the symmetry of the photonic bandgap. That is, no matter what direction a wave tries to propagate, it should see the same band gap. In real devices, the band gaps change with the direction of propagation. An up-to-date topic in this field would be designing devices with more consistent band gaps. I believe the solution lies in non-periodic structures.
