Damping coefficient of silver

hello
i read in a paper the Damping coefficient of silver is about 8.5e13 S^-1
what does its unit( S^-1) meaning?

I think it is 1/S which I assume is 1/seconds although I think it should be a small s not capital S (which is Siemens, I think).

Yes, Siemens is "S", which is an electrical unit of measure for electrical admittance (inverse of impedance). So 1 S = 1/Ohms, or 1 S = 1 mho (sounded "mo")

My only understanding of a damping coefficient (c) comes from the spring-mass-damper equations. See here:

I'm don't think that's quite what your book is getting at, but the concept should be similar... I just don't know the correlation.
