Amplitude of full wave rectifier sine wave clipped

Please all answer my following question


A Full wave rectifier sine wave is clipped such that the effective value is 0.5 ym. the amplitude at which the wave form is clipped will be?

That is a meaningless question. What is a "full wave rectifier sine wave" supposed to be? Presumably it means the output of a full wave rectifier that was fed with a sine wave.

Also, what units are 'ym' ? It sounds like a badly worded question about the difference between RMS and instantaneous values.

i saw this objective type question in a book, but there was no ckt mentioned in that book.

It seems me like we shouldn't waste our time if even the OP doesn't know for sure what the questions means.

Secondly, yes I know how the problem can be solved if ym means sine peak. Consider the definition of effective value and review your mathematics handbook for integral of sin²(). I presume you already sketched the waveform.

I agree there's a solution for all suggested meanings of ym, but the answer will be > 0.5 in all three cases, I think.
