Altium..how to update selected component (only) from its library?.eg in a schematic, how to just upddate the selected....if i loose all my value text again for the entire schematic then im never going to finish before xmas.......Altium lacks proper tutorials, and lacks a free version that you can practice on.

I'm not sure it updating just selected components is the correct thing to do. It seems more safe to create a variant of the original schematic component and apply changes just on it. Anyway, it is possible to select individual parts to proceed changes. Did you see section "Controlling the Update by Component Instance" of this document ? https://techdocs.altium.com/display/ADOH/Keeping+Components+Up-To-Date
