Hello All,

I have a fairly complex board that is using high density build-up production processes (HDBU) with µVias between each lamination step. The board is 18 layers, resulting in 17 separate drill pairs between each step.

When I generate my NC drill files (separate files for different vias), I do indeed get 17 different drill files as I expect, but the file extensions vs. actual layer order are all out of order and the extensions skip many numberings as well. For example:

I get a set of NC files with extensions: TX5, TX21 (6-20 skipped), TX22, TX23, TX25 (24 was skipped...), all the way to TX37.

My initial thought was that I could determine which layer TX5 is then the rest may be in order... Nope, they are all out of whack and I would have to visually look at and confirm each NC file individually in CAM and compare to the design to determine which files go with which layer (to at least inform the fab house of the order of the µVias against the layers).
This is obviously extremely prone to human error as well as a major time sink.

My question is:
Is there a way to control the drill-pair vs. extension or generation order for the NC drill file output?
My research so far has turned up with nothing; nor any way to determine how Altium even decides what the file extensions should be.

(I am using Altium Design 19)

Thanks!
