Administrator rights in Windows XP

I had windowsXP installed in my pc.
Some files in system32 got corrupted and i couldn't log-in.

I formated the system & instead of overwriting on previous installation...i have done a separate installation...

The problem now is that the administrator rights were under the first installation which got corrupted....i couldn't access control panel or for that case i don simply have adin rights...

Without formatting again can i get out of this problem...........

definitely u can reset admin password using 3rd party applications

if you have important files, better set the hard disk as slave and copy it before reformatting. I think its better than risking your important files.

how come you have formatted the system and you still have the old installation? then I assume you have a different partition. It's a little unclear since you were able to reinstall/repair but you're not an admin?

try hiren's boot cd..............

You can use your Hdd in another computer and save your files.Also,as one mentioned I heard that there are 3rd party programs that you can write to cdrom and boot from it thus change your previous password (but not learn it).
