ADE7754 energy value decrements

Hi,
i am using ADE7754 to read the active energy in three phase supply. the energy value normally increments with power usage but when the direction of current is reversed, the value of the AENERGY register decrements. can anyone tell me how to make this work proper???? is there something to do with the sign in the CFNUM register??
