Additional LPT on PCI - strange addresses

Hi,
I broke my LPT port on mainboard and I bought a new one with two LPTs. Under Windows 98 everything is OK, but under Windows XP it installed not at normal addresses ($378, $278), but under $A000 and $AC00 (using original driver) and I cannot use uP programmers because they use standard addresses.
Does anybody know how to fix it, or maybe there is a driver wich redirects data from one port to another?

a bios setup problem?

question: can you change the addresses in XP like you can in Windows 98, in the Resources tab in the device manager ( Device Manager / Ports / ECP Printer Port / Resources) ?

Bios -> no, on-board port is turned off, and under Win98 its all right.

I can't change addresses, because they are all grayed (see the picture).

do this LPT device have any serial port?
use that as a main link between PC and application...

other wise u have to make change in BIOS addresses..

or use two OS..
one for handing the LPT n application n other for use general use..

Nope. It has only two LPTs

What do you mean? I have serial ports on the mainboard anyway...

Do you mean address of on-board LPT? I can't since I disabled it

And that's the only way I suppose.

if you can set the printer type in the BIOS setup you might try setting a port to a simpler type, like EPP instead of ECP or plain old Centronics instead of EPP,

but thats just a wild guess, a stab in the dark

Hmmm, I can, but they apply only to on-board port. The additional port has no jumpers.

i mean if u have serial port on LPT device..(target baord) then u can connect that with serial port of ur PC..

about address...some change in needed in BIOS..

i guess two OS is good solution..

isn't there a check box on one of the tabs shown above to enable or force XP to detect legacy hardware? maybe that is required for the ports to be assigned legacy addresses?
