Adding a USB Host feature to a tiny MCU

Hi,
I would like to use the Serial port of a HC(S)08 MCU to drive a USB device like a USB key. Just as a PC can drive a USB device. So I don't need to connect my MCU to a PC Usb port.
I know in a USB architecture one unit plays the role of the Host and all the others are "devices". Usually the Host is the PC. What I would like to do is adding a chip that - interfacing the serial port of HC(S)08 on one side - can play as a USB Host on the other side.

Is it feasible? :?:

USBwiz is available as just the chip or a board with serial interface. It allows the use of USB "thumb drives" and MMC cards.

It seems to be a good product. I wonder if there's another option out there...
