I need to run a computer fan to create airflow for a smale scale charcoal burner.

It needs to be battery powered so that I can use it in the garden.

I have bought:

This 12 V fan:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Evercool-15mm-Long-life-Cooling/dp/B004ZS82R6

This battery:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/HQ-Universal-Sealed-Rechargeable-Battery/dp/B000W1V628

This charger:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Plug-500mA-lead-battery-charger/dp/B000NVST72

The fan has a 3 wire, 3 pin molex connector. The fly lead from the battery has crocodile clips (red and black) for the battery end, leading to a connector with two prongs. This connector is visible in the photo on amazon. I haven't been able to establish its technical name.

Unfortunately, I am almost completely ignorant of electronics. Could anyone advise me how I might connect the fan to the battery? I have searched without success for a suitable adaptor.

Any advice gratefully received.

On the fan, the three pins are Red = +12V, Black = Ground, Other Colour = Tachometer.

You do not need to use the Tachometer output - it is used on a PC for measuring the fan speed. Ignore it. Just wire up so that the Red fan lead/pin connects to +12V (Battery +) and the Black connects to Ground (battery -)

Personally, I would just cut the Molex connector off the fan leads and solder on some spade sockets that fit the battery.

Note that the charger will give a much higher voltage than 12V (maybe 15V) so you should not run the fan from the charger. It might be OK but more likely will shorten the fan's life.

Dear FoxyRick

Thanks ever so much your advice, which I will follow. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my query.
