adapt Noice Cancelling Earphones to enhance environmental sound volume

Hi.

I'm in a project in which I have this kind of earphones, and I need to find a way to switch the noice cancel, so that the microphones receive the environmental sounds, and the "device" or system, instead of canceling them, it enhances that volume.

That is #1.... in #2 I want to know if there is a way that this can be switched on and off, like (Noise Cancelling / Volume enhancer)


I'm planning to do this because I got some sony earphones which have noice cancel, but actually I don't need those, and my grandpa has some lousy hearing, so maybe I can give him those and they can be more useful to him than to me.
