hi friends,
me want to design a three phase ac motor speed controller.........the motor ratings are: three phase, ac, 220v,50hz,960rpm,2hp ,induction motor.
please help me out guys ...how to proceed from scrap....should i use traic or igbt'sor what else.[/img]

You can controll an AC motor with a v/f or vector regulation.
v/f is more easily, and it usually cold be realiyed on a microcontroller.
Vector controll is a modern approach , which gives much better results, but it needs more programming effort, and usually a specialized DSP.

Here is my advice: DON'T DO IT !!!

It is quite complicated and complex issue and if you can buy a off-the-shelf controller for $300+ it will be 10+++ times cheaper than a controller (little chanses for final success...) you are trying to design and construct..
Go to the beach, mate, don't wast your time !!!

I know, sounds terrible, but it is true, believe me...

Hello

You can use the diac/thyristor, cause I think you will have problems when using triac.

Try to see the datasheets of TCA785, I remember I have seen some thing about 3-phase motor controlling, here you may use triac, don't know why
