How does a signal ( i.e a wave) can be transmitted through an antenna, how can a wave be injected into an antenna basically? I would like to know the basic functionality of the above procedure. Please explain or give me some links pertaining to it.

antenna is basically a waveguide which just guides the signal in particular direction.
when it is applied to the feed point of the antenna then the signal travels through the antenna waveguide and depending upon its type it follows its direction (omnidirective/directional).
there is also a particular style in which the wave is super imposed on an antenna.
for all the doubts refer 'the antenna theory by -Kraus'
