User “soulfly” constructed a soldering station. The board was made with the photochemical method. The soldering iron is the popular Salomon SL-IN.
The casing was constructed of a 0.5mm galvanized metal sheet. Next the components were soldered and soldering sites were plastered. The front panel was printed on a self-adhesive paper and secured with a self-adhesive foil.
The display was adapted from a Nokia 3510i. This display has a serious disadvantage – it is difficult to evenly illuminate it. The original plastic frame was removed. The display was affixed to a 5mm plexi board with the display’s measurements.
There were two holes drilled in the board where 3mm diodes were inserted. In spite of the attempts, it could not be evenly illuminated.
Operation:
The “1” button is used to adjust stepwise the range of temperature every one hundred degrees (100, 200, 300, 450).
Next button is a “sleep” to set it in the sleeping mode and “up” button.
The last one is a “On/Off” and “down” button..
The potentiometer is used to adjust temperature in the range 0-100 degrees (in a selected range).
The soldering station works just fine. It warms up from 25 to 450 degrees within abort 60 seconds.
