A DAC problem

i'm using an ADI DAC chip,

it's digital input is 16bits.

and analog noisefloor is 164dBc/Hz,

bandwidth is 500Mhz.

the noise in band is 77dBc

the problem is why the input is 16bits? if 13bits is enough?

because 13bits digital signal's noise is 80dBc

Thank you very much!
