Hi, my name is tauseef and i have been asked to submit proposal for 8 bit microprocessor. Basically i have been asked to design an 8 bit microprocessor which should perform some basic operation like add, subtract, compare etc. I googled but didn't work. I am confused :-? that how to design it or even from where i should start. Need help!

Thanks

Sorry but I have to ask you that what these things mean. Our teacher did taught us about microprocessor but didn't ever mention these words. so if you can explain them.
thanks

design and implementation of 8 bit microprocessor using VHDL and FPGA, CPLD.

I don't think the 'design' of a microprocessor core is a suitable project for someone wanting to learn about microprocessors which I would assume to mean the application of a microprocessor.

Something like a motor controller, alarm clock, pulse meter would be more appropriate.

you can design those things by using op-amp and by using transistor and if you want this one after googling you will get this one.

The question was:

I don't know of alarm clocks using an opamp and transistor. Nor a pulse meter.

you can easily design 8 bit microprocessor to perform like add, sub, multiply, ascending order whatever you want can done by writing program in assembly language.I don't know that 8 bit microprocessor has separate compiler and programmer to write the program in c for uc.

USE 74LS181 ALU FOR BASIC OPERATION add, subtract, compare etc.

thanks noureddine1. but i need 8 bit whereas it is 4 bit.

i have been asked to do it on a software like simulating it on software like proteus or any other.
