What is a peaking inductor?

hi,,
any one has idea what is peaking inductor?
i find that it's used in filter design to increase the signal BW?

Hi,
As you know that inductor introduces a zero in the frequency response.
The peaking inductor is used to introduce a zero so that the frequency roll off is reduced and thus the bandwidth improves.
The peaking inductor can be used either in series or shunt.

Check Tom Lee's RF book, there's one chapter talking
about high speed amplifier and shunt peaking via inductor
is covered in great detail. By picking different values, you
can achieve maximum BW, maximum flatness, and best
phase response.
