A 7 channel acoustic spectra analyzer is described here. Design is from journal for electronic fans.
Implementation is not professional and a bit archaic (tracing paper\marker\etching).
Operation:
Device include 8 band filters with operating amplifiers LM324. Mid frequencies of particular channel are: 63Hz, 160Hz, 400Hz, 1kHz, 2,5kHz, 6,5kHz, 16kHz and last channel summarizing. Signals from filters are connected to analog multiplexer CD4051. On multiplexer output in every moment there is a signal from one filter only. This signal is connected to LED line controller LM3916 to controller LEDs.
Depending on switch setting there is a possibility to control single LED or multiple LEDs.
