Ok, basic need is:
To take a battery voltage of something between 40v and 60v DC and boost it to 240v DC with at least 10A output. So 2400W minimum...
Questions:
How?
Since the input voltage varies between 40-60vdc I need some way of regulating it first. So should I do a buck-boost converter to some intermediary voltage before final output stage?
Will a multistage boost circuit be something to consider? I am thinking that I cannot do it all in one since Vout/Vin is a factor of 5, meaning I am past the practical duty cycle curve correct?
Since a transformer needs AC should I invert, boost, then rectify and regulate as another option? I have only worked with transformers once in a basic circuits class, and never in practice, only ideal transformers... What is the most efficient in terms of power conversion to heat loss?
Also, how do boost converters do with varying loads? Meaning if there is a 100mA draw versus a 10A draw will bad voodoo happen?
I could be way off base of what I even need here. I am an analogue circuit n00b, I usually stay in my little digital world, but really want to expand. Any help would be greatly appreciated.[/b]
