hi guys!
i have recently purchased a 4 inch 7 seg ment CA display but cant manage to locate its datasheet.
the part no printed on the digit is SUNR400CA-S090318.
can anyone tell me how much current does it draws per segment?
thanks in advance,
cheers,
marrc

The correct question would be "how much current is the display rated for"? Current has to be set by the external circuit (series resistor, constant current display driver). In case of doubt, I would refer to a similar display from a major manufacturer for a first estimation.

Hello,

specifie also, the color of your display ..
i tested 8 inch 7 seg display
4 row of 10 leds are into one segment
so Power supply must be over 20V

you can test one segment with an adjustable power supply and a serial resistor calculated to don't draw over 10mA
example 100 ohms
and See visual effect of brigntness ..
at list you will have near 2V per leds with red color ..

it is better to have the datasheet , but i think all big segment have many leds in serial link..
you can see this test ( even in french, could help you)

**broken link removed**

if you expect to use them in dynamic mode ( multiplexage)
you can push the maximum current per segment near the normal limit (between 10 and 20mA in STATIC mode)

the 8 inch are used with a power supply of 23V ----- UDN_----Segment-----serial resistor 56 ohms--- ULN-- Gnd
i added a global light adjusting by using PWM of the power supply ( for the Night or Day light)
