[SOLVED] Computer desktop power supply

This spot welder for batteries is from Ebay. It needs supply of 12 volt DC with current up to 8 amps. I was wondering if it is possible to use the desktop power supply to feed the welder ?

If you want more choice, go to digikey...and serch under "AC DC converters".......select 12v and >100w, and sort on price, it will give you loads

Where do they state 8A input current? Another spec. on the internet says

Battery recommended:

20-45ah leadacid battery with fine performance and small internal resistance.

Also output current is specified with 90-130A. I don't recognize an effective energy storage, thus I assume that the input source has to supply 130A for a short time, which would be no problem for a good car battery.

They recommend a small 12 Volt/7AH power . This is why I thought since the desktop PSU delivers 12V/20 Amps should work. Anyhow, there is one or two sleeping in my store. will try them.

I am trying not to buy another power supply but utilize a desktop PSU if possible.

"A" is Ampere, the unit for current
"Ah" is Ampere-hour, the unit for charge

Like km and km/h. One is for distance, the other for speed.
